In 2011-12 the Government launched its Pupil Premium funding. This money is given to schools based on the number of pupils in the school who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM).
Our analysis has found that individual and small group tuition focused on literacy and numeracy, whilst building self-esteem through enriched experiences and educational visits has a significant impact on pupils’ achievement. Regular attendance is also crucial to children’s academic success.
It’s one of the reasons that we want everyone who is entitled to free school meals to apply. The money allocated to schools is to be spent on making sure those children from eligible families make good progress.

You will need to supply your name, address and National Insurance Number, and we will inform you straight away if you qualify for free school meals.
Our school uses the pupil premium funding to:
Provide lunchtime groups to develop social and emotional aspects of learning
Support intervention groups to boost learning- including additional Teaching Assistant provision to reduce group ratios.
Subsidise school trips.
Subsidise some activities and trips for extended learning opportunities.
Enables small intensive reading groups to take place.
Free Breakfast club in our popular Millzone
A free sweatshirt every academic year to help inclusion.
Subsidised music tuition at school (Years 3 – 6 only) dependant on spaces available.
